Civilization V: Communitas Expansion Pack

Now that we’re approaching the second anniversary of this project, I decided to find a name for the overall collection of mods here. Thanks to help from the CivFanatics forum community I settled on the name Civ V: Communitas.

The Communitas Expansion Pack (Cep) collectively refers to all the individual mods:

  • Civ V Unofficial Patch (Civup)
  • G&K Enhanced Mod (Gem)
  • Vanilla Enhanced Mod (Vem)
  • Mods for future official Firaxis expansion packs.
  • Modmods which alter the above projects.

Communitas is a community-made expansion pack which (through the mods list above) adds new units, improves the interface, balances gameplay, expands the modding tools, and everything else long time fans of the project are familiar with. New buildings and wonders will come in the next few weeks. The goal remains the same, to perfect gameplay while remaining as close to the core game as possible.

The word “communitas” means an unstructured community in which people are equal, or to the very spirit of community. I chose the Latin language because the Romans were prominent in history and the Civilization games.

Thank you for everyone’s support and help with this project over the past two years!

    • The unofficial patch does not alter minimum city range. Are you using the vanilla enhanced mod? If you are, minimum city range is set in the “options” file in the VEM mod folder.

ya, i’m using VEM as well but i couldn’t find the xml file that can alter the “minimum city range”. i was hoping that by limiting the number of cities (by increasing city range) could speed up the turn time.
